    Fraud & Regulatory

    Adele is experienced in prosecuting and defending in fraud cases. She has been instructed in numerous private prosecutions on behalf of local authorities.

    Notable Cases:
    (Sep 2015) – R v MI – Snaresbrook Crown Court – Prosecution counsel, securing conviction in case involving false documents.
    (May 2014) LBS v FS – Inner London Crown Court – Prosecution counsel where defendant convicted of health and safety offences.
    (Feb 2014) LBS v AH – Woolwich Crown Court – Secured seven guilty pleas to charges concerning trademark and hallmarking offences.
    (Nov 2013) R v IA – Kingston Crown Court – Defence counsel in fraud trial, made a successful half-time submission.
    (Nov 2013) LBS v E – Inner London Crown Court – Prosecution counsel in food health and safety case.
    (Oct 2013) LBL v GE – Southwark Crown Court – Prosecution counsel for Lambeth Council in fraud trial.

    Confiscation

    Adele prosecutes and defends in proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

    (May 2016) R v SS – Maidstone Crown Court – Defence counsel in contested POCA proceedings arising from trademark offences.
    (Mar 2014) – Southwark Council v BI – Inner London Crown Court – Prosecution counsel in POCA proceedings where Court found criminal lifestyle existed and a confiscation order was made for over £30,000.
    (Jan 2013) R v JS – Aylesbury Crown Court – Junior counsel in a two-day hearing concerning confiscation of proceeds from breaches of planning legislation in relation to an illegal car park.

    General and Serious Crime

    Adele has been instructed to prosecute and defend across a broad range of offences.

    Notable cases:
    (May 2015) – R v J – Wolverhampton Crown Court – Defence counsel securing not guilty verdict in case concerning weapons charges.
    (March 2015) – R v S – Wood Green Crown Court – Defence counsel in sexual assault case where defendant acquitted.
    (Jan 2015) – R v AM – Wood Green Crown Court – Defence counsel for youth accused of robbery and firearm offences, where client was acquitted.

    Extradition

    Adele has been instructed to represent requested persons subject to European Arrest Warrants both at first instance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and on appeal. Adele is often instructed to advise in writing on grounds for appeal against extradition.

    Notable cases:
    (Aug 2015) Poland v O – Westminster Magistrates’ Court – Secured discharge of person subject to EAW from Poland.
    (Mar 2014) Poland v S – Westminster Magistrates’ Court – Advised on appeal for Polish extradition warrant.

    Banking Fraud and CPS Secondments

    November 2015- June 2016 – Thames Valley Police
    Instructed as disclosure counsel.

    July 2014 – December 2014 – Serious Fraud Office
    Instructed as disclosure counsel.

    February 2014 – Crown Prosecution Service (Proceeds of Crime Unit)
    Responsible for drafting orders, requests and variations for confiscation cases.
