In August, Thom Dyke attended the 2013 South Eastern Circuit Bar Mess Foundation Advanced International Advocacy Course at Keble College, Oxford.
The course, which is internationally recognised as arguably the best and most intensive advocacy course in the world, was taught by a faculty including members of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court, as well as Circuit Judges and members of the judiciary from around the world. Thom was taught by HHJ Julian Goose QC, HHJ Alistair McCreath QC and HHJ Joanna Korner QC amongst others, and benefitted from their immensely valuable comments and critiques.
The course involved intensive training in trial and appellate advocacy, the handling of vulnerable witnesses, as well as dealing with complex expert evidence from medical witnesses. Thom hopes to further develop the skills he has learnt, particularly around sensitive and vulnerable witness handling.
Thom prides himself on developing and maintaining an exceptional standards of oral and written advocacy, and continues to build a strong practice in the field of serious crime, public law and regulatory work.
