Clarissa Rodio represented the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) in the below reported case, which resulted in a matron being struck off following an incident at Darlington Hospital in 2019. A panel found that the senior member of staff walked in on the colleague while she was changing which caused, as described by Clarissa, “significant distress”. She submitted that such “behaviour affects the culture of the workplace and is capable of causing a toxic environment which can create a consequent risk to patients”.
She further argued that there was a “clear lack of insight evidenced by way of [his] ‘categorical’ denial of the charges and lack of remorse”.
