Antony’s practice focuses mainly on criminal, extradition, regulatory, inquest and public law. He frequently appears in the Crown Court and in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). He is instructed in relation to serious matters including murder, serious violent offences, rape, sexual offences, fraud and drug offences. Antony is a Grade 3 prosecutor and is a member of the Level 1 extradition specialist panel. In addition to the CPS and defence solicitors, Antony is instructed by other organisations such as local authorities, Transport for London, police forces, Nursing and Midwifery Council, Royal College of Nursing and the Government Legal Department. Antony appears before the Coroner’s courts, instructed to represent parties and interested parties in inquests. When not in court, Antony advises on public law matters and civil disputes involving public authorities.

Before practising at the bar Antony lectured in law. Antony has convened and examined modules in public international law and EU law, in addition to teaching public law at the University of Surrey. He also taught public law at the University of Winchester where students voted him ‘lecturer of the year’. Working with an NGO, Antony provided pro bono legal advice and assistance to small-island and developing states and NGOs in relation to several rounds of UNFCCC climate change negotiations. Antony also has experience of international and comparative legal research as a consultant in subjects ranging from illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in Asia to the implementation of the Basel III Accords in the EU, US and UK.

Rex v AK (2024) – Antony secured an acquittal for his client charged with strangulation, following a 4 day trial at Inner London Crown Court.

Rex v RB (2024) – Antony secured an acquittal for his client charged with GBH (s18) following a 3 day trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Regina v BJ (2023) – Antony secured the acquittal of his client charged with GBH S18 at Gloucester Crown Court.

Regina v SM (2022) – Led junior counsel for client charged with murder. This case consisted of a trial in the Crown Court and, subsequently, an appeal against conviction to the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). The defendant was alleging that he was not guilty of murder on the basis of the partial defence of loss of control: Myles [2023] EWCA Crim 934.

Regina v AC & Other (2022) – Antony defended his client charged with Supply of Class A in a 5 day trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Antony’s client was acquitted.

Regina v MA (2022) – Antony prosecuted in a 5 day trial at Isleworth Crown Court. 2 defendants were charged with armed robbery. Both were convicted.

Regina v WO (2022) – Antony secured not guilty verdicts at Northampton Crown Court for his client charged with production of cannabis. The prosecution offered no evidence following the service of a skeleton argument to exclude the evidence of a police officer who purported to identify certain plants as cannabis plants. In short, the plants were immature plants that were not flowering and the officer had no relevant expertise in the identification of immature cannabis plants.
