Ben Holder
Ben began his pupillage at Great James Street Chambers in October 2026 and is particularly interested in building a practice focusing on crime, extradition, and regulatory work.
Prior to commencing pupillage Ben worked in a criminal defence firm. He was responsible for a large case load consisting of criminal and extradition matters. During this time, he gained extensive experience of defending cases involving serious violence, sexual offences, and drugs. Ben also worked on a variety of financial crime matters, developing an interest in the complexities of defending and prosecuting offences of illegal money lending, fraud, and proceedings brought by trading standards.
Ben also had responsibility for representing young people and clients with complicated vulnerabilities given his calm, reassuring, and patient manner. Drawing on this combination of skills, Ben worked on several Youth Court matters involving sexual and violent offences and successfully assisted in securing acquittals at trial.
During his time at university, Ben served as the Editor in Chief of the university’s law journal for two years and was responsible for overseeing regular publications. Additionally, in his final year, Ben won the Jim Sturman KC Mooting Competition where he was awarded the best advocate award in recognition of his advocacy and intricate legal argument.
