Qualified to practice in England, Wales and Nigeria and guided by the proverb that “a man’s story seems good until you hear the other side”, together with the revelation that “the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone”, Ann earnestly believes that every case deserves a confident, attentive barrister in order to achieve justice. Her unique approach has afforded her the opportunity and fortitude to steer justice in the right path by seeking to ensure that justice is not merely seen to be done, but is in truth actually done.

Ann spent in excess of 12 years prosecuting cases on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service and Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs and has defended in the Court of Appeal, High Court, the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Courts.

Ann has been instructed as a Criminal Defence Barrister in Murder, Manslaughter, Death by Dangerous Driving, Fraud, Rape, Child Cruelty, serious Sexual Offences, Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, Grievous Bodily Harm, Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply, Possession, Cultivation and Importation of Controlled Drugs, Burglary, Criminal Damage, Theft, Domestic Violence Assaults and Road Traffic Offences etc. undertaking amongst other things: Trials, Appeals, Judicial Reviews, Applications to Stay Proceedings on the basis of Abuse of Process, Extradition Hearings, Confiscation Proceedings and Civil Actions Against the Police.

Family Law

Ann is proficient, adept, uniquely and suitably equipped at dealing with complex family matters that require an in-depth analysis and translation to support the rationale behind both the behaviour and the actual events that have taken place within family disputes. Eliciting the truth in cases of Domestic Violence, forensic examination and analysis of Scott Schedules. Ann is instructed in Child Arrangement Proceedings, drafting effective undertakings and prohibitive steps, Non Molestation and Occupation and Ex Parte Applications.

Dealing with whether Article 10 of Brussels II retains jurisdiction without limit of time in a member state if a child habitually resident in that member state was wrongfully removed to (or retained in) a non member state where they subsequently became habitually resident.

Instructed by the Registrar of Criminal Appeals in a case that goes to the heart of the issue of whether those with a severe history and current state of mental illness should be permitted to represent themselves.

Junior Counsel in a case that resulted in the Court of Appeal determining the relevant principles applicable to barristers, solicitors, the Bar Council, and the Law Society when interpreting the cab rank principle.
