Paul secures a reduction in sentence of an Appellant who was sentenced to 21 months in custody for non-domestic burglary. Paul was not the original trial counsel, but took over conduct of this matter at last minute due to the original trial counsel being unavailable.

The Court of Appeal commented that ‘Mr Edwards put his arguments over with considerable force’ and found that the starting point that the trial judge took was too high and the original crown court did not give the Appellant enough of a reduction in sentence for his personal mitigation. The Court of Appeal agreed that there had been a disparity in the sentence the Appellant received and that if his co-defendant.

As a result of the arguments put forward by Paul Edwards the court of Appeal reduced the defendant’s sentence to one of 12 months.
