Simon Gruchy, instructed by Julliz Solicitors LLP, secured an acquittal following a trial at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) for his client charged with death by dangerous driving.
The defendant was driving home from work in his SUV and was alleged to have caused the death of a motor cyclist who drove in excess of the speed limit, but had right of way. Unusually, the defendant ‘confessed’ under the rigours of cross-examination.
Simon is most grateful to Rob Elliott of Forensic Equity Limited, whose forensic road traffic collision expertise was instrumental in converting, what appeared from various cctv footage at first blush to be overwhelming evidence of guilt, into an acquittal. The joint reconstruction and his assistance in relation to violation of expectation and headlight alignment proved to be invaluable.
