Mark Robinson, instructed by Ennon & Co. Solicitors secures a suspended sentence for his client charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply of cocaine and heroin.
Mark’s client was the subject of a police operation that led to the raid of a South London address in October of 2020. The offence initially placed the defendant in Category 3, significant role of the sentencing guidelines with a 4 years and 6 months starting point. Mark requested an expert be instructed to compile a psychiatric report and, with extensive mitigation taken from the report, including a kidnap attempt of his client and his mother in Columbia, Mark was able to persuade the Crown to accept the basis of plea, which reduced the category to a lesser role.
Mark submitted that the defendant should receive significant credit for his change of plea to guilty, the Crown’s acceptance of the basis of plea and the compelling mitigation. The Judge agreed and, after an adjournment for a pre-sentence report, the Judge sentenced to a 24-month sentence, suspended for 2 years with conditions.
