Simon Gruchy, instructed by Asad Aziz of AA Law, represented a defendant with links to the Vietnamese and Bangladeshi Organised Crime Groups who were involved in substantial cannabis cultivation in a number of properties in Lincolnshire.
Despite a very late plea (day of trial) and the fact that his co-conspirators were sentenced to lengthy terms of imprisonment, Simon secured a suspended sentence of imprisonment for his client. This was the result of constructive discussions with the prosecution as to the defendant’s role within the conspiracy, which, on a less favourable interpretation of the evidence, could have been significant as opposed to lesser (Sentencing Council Guidelines).
