Peter maintains a truly international practice. In addition to practising from Great James Street Chambers, he maintains Chambers in Sydney. He also provides advice on all areas of the common law in Germany and, as of Counsel to the law firm Houri & Ghalayini, provides advice in the Middle East region.

Peter is regularly briefed in the most serious of criminal cases, both at trial and on appeal. Recently, he has developed a specialism in terrorism, having appeared in every terrorism trial in Sydney since 2005.

R v. Darwiche
Appearing on appeal on behalf of the reputed head of a crime syndicate who had been convicted of two counts of murder. The matter is presently on appeal to the High Court of Australia.

R v. BUSB; BUSB v. Director-General of Security
Appearing on behalf of a person accused of attempting to murder two police officers. The matter led to a Constitutional challenge to orders of the trial court relating to anonymous witnesses. Because of its significance, that argument was heard by a Bench of 5 Justices.

R v. Cheikho
Appearing for the defence of a person accused of conspiring to do acts in preparation for a terrorist act. The case was the longest criminal trial in Australian history.

R v. Ul-Haque
Appearing for the defence of a person accused of training with the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba. The charges were withdrawn after the prosecution evidence was excluded. The case led to an enquiry concerning the actions of officers of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

R v. Lodhi
Appearing for the defence of a person accused of planning terrorist acts within the Sydney region.

Peter regularly provides advice to persons, both within and outside of the jurisdiction, in relation to extradition proceedings. For example, he is presently acting on behalf of an individual detained in Thailand, who is charged with having conspired with one of Australia’s most senior police officers to import a vast quantity of pseudoephedrine.

Peter accepts instructions to act as an arbitrator, having been officially accredited by the New South Wales Bar Association to act as an arbitrator.
