Amanda Jones, instructed by Waterstone Solicitors, has gained permission for a High Court (Admin) hearing next week in relation to immigration and the coronavirus.
The lay client is detained “pending deportation”, but consideration of his asylum claim has been postponed indefinitely because of Covid-19.
The judicial review grounds argue that the prolonged detention is both unlawful detention at common law, and contrary to Article 5 of the ECHR.
