Nasreen Shah, instructed by CF Law Solicitors, was successful for her client, charged with s.4A Public Order Act 1986, using threatening, abusive, insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm, or distress, ending in a not guilty verdict.

The client was charged after he had called the police in relation to being threatened by the complainant. The complainant’s account was successfully challenged and the police officer had to concede that the defendant made the initial allegation. No reasonable explanation was provided as to why the client was charged. The matter then went part heard.

Nasreen put the client’s case successfully and challenged attempts by the Crown to rely on evidence not put to the Court during their case. Moreover, Nasreen had to challenge the Crown’s wrongful assertions in their closing speech.
