Nasreen Shah, instructed by Athisaya Sadananthan of Makwana Solicitors, secured acquittals for her client charged with three counts of rape, following a 4-day trial at Isleworth Crown Court.
A central part of the case involved video recordings of the alleged acts and the use of medication. At the outset, Nasreen carefully considered a s.100 argument in respect of previous allegations made by the complainant, bearing in mind Hurley [2025]. Nasreen also scrutinized extensive volumes of digital material to compile defence exhibits that established a precise timeline of events. The meticulous presentation supported her client’s case and defence, namely, that consent had been given at all times and that there had been a prior agreement between the parties on the respective occasions for them to engage in, and record any sexual activities whilst the other was asleep.
The jury returned unanimous verdicts of not guilty.
