Stephen Akinsanya, instructed by Tuckers Solicitors secures an 18 month suspended sentence at Croydon Crown Court for a 53 year old defendant of previous good character, with learning disabilities suffering from a long term moderate depressive disorder, charged with offences of attempted meeting a child followed sexual grooming and attempted engaging in communication with a child.
Following extensive mitigation and a comprehensive psychological report the sentencing Judge agreed that punishment and rehabilitation were best undertaken in the community with specialist intervention services. The Judge imposed the suspended sentence with reference to the comments by the Lord Chief Justice in R v MANNING [2020] EWCA Crim 592
