Lucy Chapman, acting for the UKCP, obtained a strike off order against a registrant in fitness to practise proceedings.
The registrant was a senior psychotherapist highly respected in his field with an unblemished record. The case involved historical sexual misconduct with a client which took place over several years. Lucy successfully argued that the case should proceed despite the registrant maintaining he was suffering from ill health. Lucy sensitively took the complainant through a lengthy
examination, covering multiple traumatic incidents of sexual abuse, sexual grooming, coercive and controlling behaviour, resulting in all 18 charges pursued by the Council being found proved.
