Shoba Aziz

Shoba worked as an advocate and litigator within busy solicitors firms for over 14 years which included the UK’s largest Legal 500 immigration law firm. Her successes have built up the well-established reputation she has today. She achieved the Civil Higher Rights qualification in November 2020 and represented clients in the higher courts . Her experience from within the law firms provides Shoba with a unique insight, allowing her to provide guidance and the necessary support that instructing solicitors desire in Counsel.

Shoba’s passion for law and justice is apparent in her work and she strives to ensure that clients are reassured throughout proceedings. She completed her enhanced DBS which enables her to represent unaccompanied asylum-seeking children with a compassionate and empathetic attitude.

Shoba specialises in Article 3 medical, modern slavery and trafficking claims and ensures that she takes particular care when dealing with clients who have all kinds of vulnerabilities. She regularly appears in the First-tier Tribunal (“FTT”) and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, County Courts and Magistrates court.

Shoba’s work involves instructions from Policing bodies in both criminal and family law proceedings, including Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Stalking Protection Orders and ASBO’s. Shoba often appears on behalf of the Police in family and criminal proceedings.

Shoba is a case presenter for the Nursing and Midwifery Council in both substantive and interim, non-substantive Fitness to Practice proceedings.

Shoba often prepares and delivers training on all up to date immigration law and policies.

Before being called to the bar, Shoba spent time in the ECHR and The Hague to see how the international courts operate. This enhanced her enthusiasm to represent clients in Human Rights and civil Liberty cases. She has unique and effective negotiation techniques using versatile and experienced advocacy skills which turns borderline cases into successful ones.
