Clarissa Rodio, instructed by Harsha Shah of Birds Solicitors, secures an acquittal in a sexual assault ‘trial of the facts’ at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court.
Clarissa represented a 29-year-old defendant who was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder in 2016 and has remained under the care of mental health services since. Her client has been receiving medical treatment for a relapse of his underlying psychotic illness. As a result of this, the defendant has been found unfit to plead and stand trial.
The defendant was accused of sexually assaulting the complainant whilst sitting on the bench next to each other in the smoking area of a supported living placement for people with disabilities and mental health problems.
After a two-day trial, the jury acquitted Clarissa’s client unanimously.
