Poppy Cleary, instructed by Missouri & Co Solicitors, secured an acquittal for her client charged with sexual assault following a trial at Southampton Crown Court.
The complainant, who was a family member, alleged that the Defendant sexually assaulted them in the bathroom of their home address. Through cross examination, Poppy exposed inconsistencies between the complainant’s account, the witness’s account and the interior CCTV evidence. Forensic examination of the complainant’s clothing supported the Defendant’s account that there had been no touching at all. The Defendant did not give live evidence and instead relied upon their full comment police interview.
The jury returned a not guilty verdict in under an hour.
