Vishal Misra, instructed by Jason Lartey, secured the acquittal of his client after a trial at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.
The Defendant was charged with Obstructing Police Constables during a s.23 Misuse of Drugs Act search and Common Assault of an Emergency Worker. The Court accepted Vishal’s half-time submission and dismissed the charge of Assault Emergency Worker, as the Defendant was restrained at all material times. The Court went on to accept Vishal’s closing submissions that the Defendant had, despite the evidence from both constables, in fact tried to comply with the Drugs Search and thus could not be resisting.
