Paul Edwards, with the assistance of 1st six pupil Lucy Curran, secures the conviction of a defendant who faced two separate allegations of rape by two of his former partners.
Both complainants’ accusation of rape centred on the fact that they both woke up from sleeping to find the defendant having sexual intercourse with them. After a fully contested trial lasting two weeks at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), and the jury being in retirement for over 12 hours, the defendant was convicted of two counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration in relation to the first complainant and one count of rape and one count of non-fatal strangulation in regard to the second complainant.
The defendant will be sentenced on 16/01/2026.
Paul was instructed by Suzanne Crane of the CPS RASSO Unit, London South.
