Adam Smith, instructed by Khalid Peerbux of Mordi & Co Solicitors, secures the discharge of his client’s extradition to Belgium.
The Requested Person was sought on an accusation warrant for his role in a large-scale cannabis cultivation operation as part of an organised crime group.
Adam successfully persuaded the District Judge that the arrest warrant was not compliant with section 2 of the Extradition Act 2003.
Adam’s client had a significant and sensitive health issue; as such, Adam asked for the hearing to be split so that his arguments on section 2 could be dealt with as a discreet, preliminary issue. As a result, Adam secured the positive result for his client and saved his client from having to give evidence about the sensitive health issue.
